Vineet Kumar was born in 1957 in the capital of Bihar state, Patna, and completed his education from there itself. He had a passion for acting from the days of college and pursued it by giving continuous performances in theater plays. In 1973, he joined a theater association (IPTA) in Patna and joined the renowned drama school, NSD, in Delhi, during the participation in the Jayaprakash Movement.

He debuted in Bollywood in 1994 with the Hindi film, ‘Drohkaal’, and has continued his work till date. He is renowned for characters of many flavours including serious, negative and comic. Vineet Kumar married Manoranjan Dhaliwal, a lecturer at Princess Noura University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Vineet’s younger brother, Sunit Kumar, is an IPS Officer. His favorite hobby is photography.

Kumar has worked with many veteran directors like Prakash Jha, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, Ram Gopal Varma and Govind Nihalani. He has worked in Bhojpuri and Telugu films. Vineet’s Telugu film, ‘Rowdy Rathore: Vikramarkudu’, was highly appreciated and earned many accolades. His role in ‘Masaan’ is called the brilliant one. Masaan won two awards at the Cannes Film Festival 2015 and was screened in Uncertain Regard Category.
