Indrajit Neogi is an Indian sound recordist. He is married to Armin Jamshedji and has a son, Rian Neogi. Indrajit was born in Kolkata. He pursued Science and was an outstanding student who got an A-grade in everything. He studied at the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapeeth at Purulia, a reputed academic institution located in West Bengal. He was selected in IIT Kharagpur and earned an honors degree in Physics. Despite having a heavily credential academic background, Indrajit was interested in theatrics from an early age. This passion landed him enrolling at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.

He specialized in sound at the FTII and graduated from there. In 1980, he kicked off his professional career with “36, Chowrangee Lane”. He got in association with many path-breaking films such as “Vijeta”, “Yeh Who Manzil To Nahin”, “Khamosh”, “Ardh-Satya” and “Aarth” in the early 1980s. Out of his many projects, “Maya Memsaab”, a sultry film about desire, “In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones”, which is a TV film, and “ Parinda Click to look into! >> Read More... ”, a crime drama film; have won him awards. He worked in the International joint production of Matir Moyna and this project has bagged huge number of awards at an international level, including the prestigious Cannes.

His recent works are “ Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Click to look into! >> Read More... ” and “Band Baaja Baraat”. Indrajit has re-invented the use of recording in Sync-Sound and has completely transformed the field of Live Sound recordings for films. He is an innovative man who has a great passion for sound and music. Indrajit has also filmed documentaries related to educational or social purposes. Consecutively for 1993 and 1994, he received the National Award for Sound Recording. He has been also an active member on the International scene for sound. He has broadly traveled India from the glaciers of Himalaya to the coasts of Kerala and from the salty beaches of Kuchh to the dense forests of the Sundarbans.

He has an impressive amount of experience tallying up to 30 years. Indrajit was also involved in the famous TV serial Shanti. He has worked with CNN, BBC, Discovery and National Geography, which only proves his finesse in the art that he practices. He also holds a Diploma in Sound Recording and Sound engineering. Indrajit currently resides in Pune, where he holds the post of the Head of the Department of Film & Video Design at the MIT Institue of Design. He says he joined teaching so that he could share his experience with the coming generation of aspiring sound recordists.
