Sunjoy Waddhwa

Sunjo Waddhwa is a Hindi producer and works predominantly in shows which air in the Indian television industry. He produced many shows which were highly appreciated by the masses. These include serials like Balika Vadhu, Gulaal, and Jyoti. His mantra for success is a result of his keen observation skills. He recognized the fact that the Indian audience was beginning to find the typical Indian television serials to be monotonous and mundane.

He then, racked his brain and churned out the idea of a new and different storyline and produced a show which became a household hit, Balika Vadhu. The show Balika Vadhu began airing on Colors Tv on Jul 21, 2008, and its last episode broadcasted on 31st July 2016. The 8-year long journey of the serial had its plot set in a rural area of Rajasthan and tracked the life of a child married off at a very young age, up until adulthood.

These include turkey, Nepal, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, UK, South Africa, Armenia, Japan, South Korea, etc. The show won numerous awards for best actor, dialogue, costume design, teleplay over the years. In the theatre arena too, he is making theatricals, the most recent one being Ek Tu Aur Ek Main.

He always had theatre at the back of his mind and wished to bring about a change to increase the number of people attending theatres and plays on a regular basis. He believes in breaking the ceiling and questioning norms and views that are conventionally followed by the viewers. Considering his success rate and support as far as the television industry is concerned, he hopes to get a similar response and use his audience support to uplift the theatre industry too.

His premiere at a play is in the genre of dark comedy. He aim’s to use this genre to bring in quality audiences to see his shows which let him experiment with different types of stories and plots. He also plans on incorporating media and marketing to promote and attract audiences, similar to the case of television shows.
