The brand ‘Ajay-Atul’ signifies one of the best music composer and director duos present in the country. Professionally, Atul is a music director, a composer, a songwriter, a lyricist, a show organizer and much more. He also produces music. His area of work is mainly concentrated in the Marathi language. In the 56th National Filmfare Awards, Ajay and Atul were awarded the Best Music Direction Award. They got this privilege in the year 2008. They received this award for their contribution in the film Jogwa, which was a Marathi film.

They even secured 82nd rank in the Forbes India’s list in the year 2015. To record a song for a Marathi movie Soirata, they went to Sony Studio in Hollywood, and they were the first ever Indian music director duo to have taken this step. Atul’s father’s name is Ashok Gogavale. His occupation was an officer in the Revenue Department in Alandi, Pune. Though he was born in Pune, he grew up in several villages. Because Ashok had a transferable job, much of the childhood of Atul and Ajay were spent in traveling and the villages of Western Maharashtra. Villages like Shirur and Junnar are all a part of their childhood memories.

Atul was born on the 11th of September in the year 1974, whereas his younger brother Ajay was born on the 21st of August in the year 1976. Atul and his brother Ajay were not studious. During their schooldays, they were much attracted to music. Since then, they started to do different experiments with music and even won some awards for their display on some famous musical tracks. This is how they kick started their musical journey. They were not financially stable and, so initially, their parents could not provide them with any musical instruments. They did not get full support from their family regarding music, but they were never denied as well.

They started off their journey by playing instruments in local concerts, shows, temples and other areas. Their interest in music helped them to go a long distance. They never got any professional training in music, and neither did they belong to a family which mastered in music. So, they are self-learned, self-taught musicians. Despite having family problems and financial issues they did not let their passion for music die. It was this confidence and will power that helped them to grow and achieve such big milestones in their career.
