Mahi Gill aka Mahie aka Mahie Gill aka Rimpy Kaur Gill is an Indian actress of Bollywood fame, earning her eminence in the Hindi movie of 2009, “Dev.D” that was directed by Anurag Kashyap. She has played the role of Parminder ‘ Paro Story coming soon... >> Read More... ’, one of the two love-interests of the protagonist in the movie, and won the 2010 Critics Award - Female - Best Performance, at the Filmfare Awards ceremony. (The other love-interest, Chandramukhi - Chanda - Leni, played by Kalki Koechlin, earned the half French half Tamil girl, the Best Supporting Actress at the same Awards.) Mahi was born in Chandigarh of Punjab, India, on 19th of December 1975, and her Zodiac sign is Sagittarius. She is 165 cm (5’5”) tall. At the Panjab University, Chandigarh, she has studied and earned her Masters in the Department of Indian Theatre, in the year 1998.

She has started acting in the year 1995 itself but it was all in fields other than movies. Her first movie was “ Hawayein”, a Punjabi and Hindi film of 2003, directed by Ammtoje Mann, and her character in the movie was called, ‘Lali’. After two unsuccessful ventures, “Sirf 5 Din” - 2004 and “Khushi Mil Gayee” - 2006, she had her break in the 2007 Hindi movie, “KhoyaKhoya Chand” as a ‘starlet’ character found at the residence of the character ‘ Prem Kumar’. After “MittiWajaanMaardi” in the same year, and “ Chak De Phatte” in the following year, both Punjabi movies, she was seen by Anurag Kashyap who was much impressed by her looks and talents, and he cast her immediately in his Dev D, as ‘Paro’, which went on to fetch her three prestigious awards; the Screen Awards 2010 for the Most Promising (Female) Newcomer, and the IIFA Star Debut Award 2010, other than the 2010 Critics Award - Female - Best Performance, at the Filmfare Awards. Also in the 2010 IIFA Awards, she was nominated for both the Star Debut Award and the Best Actress Award for her performance in that movie.

The much-talked about drama/thriller, “Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster” of 2011 and its 2012 sequel “Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns” gave her a position in Hindi Cinema as an artist with the unique combination of talent and bold glamour. For her performance in the former, she was nominated for both the 2012 Filmfare Awards and IIFA Awards - for Best Actress, and for the performance in the latter, she had won the BIG Star Entertainment Awards 2013 as the Most Entertaining Female Actor - In A Thriller Film. She has acted in AnuragKashyap’s political drama, “ Gulaal” (2009), and the Hindi movie of the same year, which was written and directed by V.K.Kumar, “Pal PalDilKeSsaat”, and the comedy directed by Indrajit Nattoji, again in the same year, “ Aagey Se Right”. She has also appeared in an item song, ‘ Don’t Touch My Body’, in the Saif Ali Khan starring movie “ Bullett Raja” by Tigmanshu Dhulia.
