Samir Ganguly

Samir Ganguly is a veteran filmmaker who has played a notable role in the field of Indian cinema. He has directed several distinguished movies throughout his career. Ganguly has been a part of the world of entertainment since the early 50s’ when Bollywood had adopted a rather glamorous personality albeit still growing. He began his journey as an assistant director to the renowned cinematographer, Nasir Hussain. His first ever movie was ‘Tumsa Nahin Dekha’ in 1957. He worked on some more films as an assistant, honing his skills and learning the ropes.

Some of his most popular films are ‘Sharmeelee (1971),’ ‘Deewangee (1976),’ and ‘Khoon Ka Rishta (1981).’ His films featured some of the most famous actors and actresses of the time. Ganguly also did some writing for the screenplays and dialogues. He entered the television scene as a director for the serial, Paying Guest. He is a much sought after figure for his years of experience and skill. He has been on the panel of judges for many film festivals and cinematic extravaganzas.
