Nagraj Manjule is an Indian film director, writer, and producer, popular amongst the regional audience for his work in movies like Fandry (2013), An Essay of Rain (2017), Sairat (2016), Naal (2018), etc. Mostly known for his pre-dominant involvement in the Marathi cinema, plays, and TV shows, he is also a recognized poet who has been awarded the Bhairuratan Damani Puraskar for his book titled Unhachya Kataviruddha consisting of poetry in Marathi. Born on 24th August 1977, Nagraj was brought up in Jeur Village near the Solapur district of Maharashtra.

After graduating from the University of Pune with an M.A. in Marathi Literature, he completed his master’s from New Arts, Science and Commerce College, Ahmednagar in communication. In a bizarre turn of events, he was forced into getting married at the age of 19, when he was in 12th standard. But eventually, the couple got divorced in 2014.

Over the years, the veteran professional has contributed to this industry as a producer, director, writer, and even as an actor. The most notable acting credit to his name is Sairat (2016), where he featured as a cricket commentator. During his career, Nagraj has won many awards, including the National Film Award for the Best Non-Feature Film of a Director.
