Anu Menon is a film director and a writer in the Bollywood film industry. She has been making films for a long time now and has made her first Bollywood debut with the movie, 'London Paris New York'. She has made various documentaries, like ‘Baby’, which was about the Bengali domestic help which became a bestseller. Also, she has made many short films like 'Ravi Goes to School'. She has both written and directed movies such as ''X: Past Is Present' (2015) and 'Waiting' (2015). She is 41 y ears old, career oriented woman.

While growing up, there were not so many options about courses to be chosen from, so she decided to take up engineering and went to Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani. But, she had no interest and then she got into the advertising industry, which was a life swirling step for her. She worked in the advertising industry for 10 years both in India and in Singapore before she settled in London, United Kingdom. Filmmaking in those times seemed to be a different world. In her later 20s, she was thought to be a storyteller.

Then to be sure about making films, she joined a workshop at NFYA and then did MA in filmmaking at the London Film School. As she did not have any film background from her family, she wanted learn the craft of filmmaking. She made around 5-6 short films at her film school to build her portfolio.Having explored her hidden strengths and she had also experimented a lot of things. She likes films which are different and intimate, where the audience gets a sense of the character in a perfect way.

Her favorite types of filmmakers are Sam Mendes, Noah Baumbach, Woodey Allen and Sofia Coppola. She admires the work of Zoya Akhtar, Vishal Bhardwaj and Imtiaz Ali in the Bollywood Film industry. She is often confused with the Video Jockey, Anuradha Menon. The movie ‘Waiting’ starring the two veteran actors, Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin won commendation across film festivals. It is based on a personal experience of the talented woman, and the film is close to her heart. The movie was premiered at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles in the closing ceremony of the festival.

She also grabbed the Best Director Award at the London Asian Film Festival for the film. ‘Waiting’ was also premiered at one of the greatest film festivals, Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).She has also written and directed a movie named ‘Womaniya’ which has recently release. She is also doing various other international projects too. She always wants to push her boundaries with every movie she makes.
