Abbas Tyrewala is an Indian film director, story writer, screenwriter, dialogue writer, and lyricist. He was born on May 15, 1974. He has worked in Bollywood films, and Hindi dubbed films. Abbas was born in a poor Muslim family in Mumbai and brought up in the same.

His father owned a tire repair shop, and his mother was a housewife, both of them did everything for Abbas so that he can get a good education. Abbas got five awards out of which two were Zee Cine Awards, one Filmfare award, and two IIFA awards.

Abbas went to St. Xavier’s College at Mumbai, from where he did his graduation and he was also working on plays and songs. During his graduation, he was contacted by one of his friends for a Jingle writing which he accepted and wrote a jingle for Cinema extra bright tube light in a short time in 1993.

Later, Abbas started accepting any job thrown at him. A month before his final examination he left his college to work for Ogilvy & Mather PR Company where he worked for a year. Then, Abbas entered TV and joined Cine Vista as a Creative Consultant.

He left TV industry in 2000 and joined the Film Industry. His career in Film Industry kicked off after he wrote the lyrics for the movie Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar in the year 2000. He then performed as a story and dialogue writer in 2001 historical drama Asoka starring Shahrukh Khan and as Screenplay writer in 2001 sports drama Lagaan starring Aamir Khan.

Both of the films were a huge success. He also worked as a lyricist for a 2001 Telugu Movie Kushi which marked his debut in Telugu Cinema. In 2002, he was the lyricist for the movie Leela. Year 2003 was an important year for Abbas as he played an important role in many films and won many awards and got nominated for its work.

Abbas was awarded many awards for these two films – For Maqbool, he won both IIFA and Zee Cine award for Best Screenplay, and for Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. he won Filmfare, IIFA, and Zee Cine award for Best Dialogue in 2005 and 2004 respectively.

He worked as writer and lyricist for Chupke Se in the same year which was a Romantic Comedy directed by Shina Urvashi. In the year 2006, he got married to Paakhi Tyrewala. He wrote the dialogues for 2007 release Welcome which was a brilliant comedy film. De Talli which was 2008 release was also written by him.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, was released in 2008 is also a romantic drama film, with Abbas as Director, Story writer, and Screenwriter. This film became the debut film of Abbas as Director. He was also nominated for various awards like Star Guild and Filmfare for its various works for the film.
