Chinni Prakash is an Indian choreographer, actor, art director, director, and script-writer. He always had an eye for making it into the Arena of Cinema in India. So, after finishing his studies, he came to Mumbai in search of a career in his dream profession. Luckily, he was introduced to a choreographer Sampath, who took Chinni as his assistant. His work was limited such that he used to choreograph the little portion of the songs.

He choreographed songs for various hit films like Ram Aur Shyam, Haathi Mere Saathi. Then, he suddenly disappeared from the field that he dreamt of getting in right from his childhood days. After nearly 8-10 years, he was back with a bang. He became a solo choreographer and in 1988, he did his first film, Hero Hiralal.

His works for the films like Swarg, Thanedaar was appreciated by the audiences and Chinni became one of the most sought-after choreographers of Bollywood town thereby fulfilling his dream. In the 1990s, he was at his peak taking part in many big films like Saajan, Gumrah, Khiladi, Mohra, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Coolie No. 1, Gambler, and London Dreams.

In 1991, he acted in the movie Uyiroviam and during 1997, he directed the film Ghoonghat. As time and technology advanced, his works started declining as the trend changed in the film industry. He has won the National Award for Jodhaa Akbar Click to look into! >> Read More... and Filmfare Best Choreographer Award for Hum. He married famous choreographer Rekha. The couple had choreographed several movies together. He has the credit of choreographing for more than 200 films.

He was not only bossing in Bollywood town but also did many works in other language films as well, mainly in Tamil films. He won a total of three FilmFare Awards in 1990, 1994, and 1996 for the motion pictures Hum, Mohra, and Rakshak respectively. His recent works include Singham Returns Click to look into! >> Read More... , No Problem Click to look into! >> Read More... , and Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Though he has not directed many films, he always had an eye in the director’s seat and plans to become one as soon as he finds a suitable script.

On the whole, Chinni has choreographed around 1000 songs in various languages. In the recent times, as we all know the songs are getting a lot of western touches, choreographers like Chinni criticize that the songs have lost its traditional Indian touch and creativity. There are also questions rising about the remunerations of choreographers as they are paid very less when compared to actors and directors.
