Jude Poyer

Stuntman and action designer Jude Poyer was born and raised in London. Amongst the films, Tommy (1975) had a huge impact on him. At the age of seven, his father got a job in Sri Lanka and moved there with his mother while leaving him at a boarding school in the UK.

Jude Poyer saw this as a step into reality that instilled a sense of independence. This trait later contributed to his move to Hong Kong at the age of eighteen. During his school days, Jude took part in plays and enjoyed acting, and though a particular event made him realize that professional acting was not for him, Jude desired to work in the filming industry nevertheless. Jude learnt about the world of martial arts through the movie Ninja III: The Domination (1984), which was shown to him by his brother. Later, through The Incredibly Strange Film Show, a show in which the host travelled to Hong Kong to interview Jackie Chan in 1989, Jude got to know about the incredible action cinema of Hong Kong.

His teenage years were soon filled with training in martial arts and engaging himself in Hong Kong action movies. Jude Poyer moved to Hong Kong when he was just eighteen years old. Here, he was able to work his dream job as a stuntman and later a stunt coordinator. After eight years in Hong Kong, Jude returned to the UK as a successful and highly sought-after action designer.
