Jason O’Mara was born to Irish parents. While he was a kid, he was very much interested in rugby like most of the Irish do but then he suffered a terrible injury and left the sport. While he was in school, he took part in a school play and fell in love with it. He then went to Trinity College where he got a degree in Dramatics.

Jason did a lot of theatre work in London and Dublin in his initial years, and some of his works include The Jew of Malta and Popcorn.

In Irish Theatre Awards of 2002, Jason was nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his role of John in bash. He also played a role in Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming, which was showcased in three cities including London, Dublin and also at the Lincoln Centre in New York.

After that, he was then seen in many BBC TV series such as the Berkley Square, Playing the Field, Monarch of the Glen and High Stakes while playing the roles of Ned Jones, Lee Quinn, Fergal MacLure, and Greg Hayden respectively. He then made his debut in American TV shows with HBO’s Band of Brothers as First Lieutenant Thomas Meehan III.

During 2002, he shot in the pilot of Eastwick as Presidio Med for Fox but then chose to play A.B. Stiles in The Agency. ABC and Touchstone signed a talent-holding deal with Jason to develop a drama specially tailor-made for him, as they were impressed with Jason’s work in the pilot episode of Countdown, which was produced by ABC and Touchstone. Later on, Jason became a part of the cast of In Justice playing the role of Charles Conti, which was telecasted in January of 2006 with 13 episodes, but was not chosen for the next season.

Seeing Jason’s talent, ABC and Touchstone again signed a similar contract this time either to give a role in one of their existing shows or to make a new one with him. Later that year Jason was seen in a more frequent role as Stuart Maxson in Men in Trees. O’Mara featured as the antagonist, Albert Wesker in the film adaptation of the Resident Evil: Extinction, which was released in 2007.

In the following year, he was seen as Phillip in two episodes of an American medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. In the same year he starred as Sam Tyler in ABC’s production Life on Mars for the 2008-09 season, but then ABC didn’t renew his contract and then he returned to theatre in London and was seen in a play called Serenading Louie, which was performed in February of 2010.

In the following year, he was seen in One for the Money, Vegas and The Good Wife, playing the roles of Joe Morelli, Jack Lamb and Damian Boyle respectively.
