The story focuses on a tightly knit family that is struggling with poverty and is a bit tight on money. Ahsan is portrayed as a central character throughout the story. He lives with his parents, younger brother Asim, his wife Zubeida and his small daughter Aimen. Ahsan is the sole bread earner of the family and hence is struggling with his job and money. His younger brother is portrayed as a lazy fellow who is incompetent and jobless. Asim is in love with his cousin Nausheen and wants to marry her, however, that is not possible considering the fact that he is financially not stable and jobless. Marrying would only lead to further problems in the family.

When Nausheen’s father catches them red-handed in their affair, he fixes their marriage on spot and forces the both of them to get married. After the marriage Ahsan struggles in his job and tries everything in his power to make both ends meet. With the number of people increasing in the family Mumtaaz asks him to leave and go abroad to search for a better job, one that would be able to sustain them all. Reluctantly he agrees, leaving behind his wife and kid. However, this change of phenomena takes a toll on his young daughter Aimen. How the absence of her father changes her while she grows up and what effect it has on the family and what questions arise from her young mind is what the rest of the serials constitute. Will the father and daughter be reunited again and whether Asim will finally learn to take responsibility of the family is what the serial entails in the further episodes.
