The story revolves around the lives of a family with family members who all follow their traditions. The environment of the household is quite patriarchal and permits men to marry thrice and treat their wives like mere objects. The head of the family- the great Peer, has married thrice. His first wife Amna, becomes pregnant but her child is killed. He marries Naseem who is incapable of giving birth and finally marries Bari Sarkar. The third wife, and Peer can get pregnant and their son Shahaab finally enters the world with his big bright eyes.

Now even though he is the heir of a misogynist, and is part of a family that follows male domination, he hates this day-old tradition of having three wives and bearing a child only with the third one. He gets married to Maira, Fatima and Yasmeen. He has a romantic relationship with Maira and even goes on a honeymoon with her. What happens when Maira, the first wife, becomes pregnant? How does the relationship between Maira and her beloved husband Shahaab follow? The rest of the story deals with that.
