The story is based on a Tamil tale Ragasiyamaga Oru Ragasiyam which was made into a serial called Marmadesam by Indra Soundarrajan and circulated on TV in the 90s.

The story starts with Inder (Mohammed Iqbal Khan), a columnist, who goes to Siddhipur's Kaalbhairav sanctuary. He remains in the sanctuary after the townspeople leave. Alone around evening time, he hears unusual sounds, and the following morning he is found dead. Akshay (Arun Singh Rana) chooses to remain in the sanctuary to explore. The next day Akshay has gone missing. A youngster named Nandu (Rahul Sharma) shows up and tells the townspeople that he has come to function as the town minister's right hand. He gets to know Dada Thakur's little girl, Namrata (Chhavi Pandey), and the cleric's little girl, Gauri (Sargun Kaur Luthra). Nandu is found to be Inder's sibling, Rahul, and is additionally exploring Inder's demise. Gauri develops some feelings for Rahul, as does Namrata, yet Rahul is focussed on his inquiry. Lakhanpal secures Gauri in the sanctuary after nightfall to retaliate for his affront. Gauri explores Kaal Bhairav the entire night and is spared. She begins having dreams that go to the real world. At last, it is uncovered that the puzzle behind all the killings is Namrata.
