‘Super Singer Junior 3’ was a kids singing talent hunt that aired on Vijay TV. The program was sponsored by the Mobile Network Company Bharti Airtel. Only children within the age group of 6-14 were allowed to participate in the contest. The program was premiered on 17th October 2011. The winner was honored with a 3-bedroom townhouse worth Rs.60 lakhs from it’s season 3 sponsors, Arun Excello Homes Private Ltd. Actress Kalyani and Ramya were anchors of the audition round. The judges who selected the participants from the auditions include prominent playbacks singers and vocalists namely S. P. Sailaja, Manikka Vinayagam, Pushpavanam Kuppuswamy, S. Sowmya, and Mahathi and
Nithyasree Mahadevan. The auditions for the Season -3 rounds were held in cities like Chennai, Trichy, and Coimbatore. The hosts of the competition round include Makapa Anand, Kalyani and Bhavana.
The permanent judges of the show included veteran playback singers namely K.S. Chithra, Mano and
Malgudi Subha. The participants were trained by
Ananth Vaidyanathan. There were 13 prominent singers of this Season-3 contest who were given a category of awards that suited them best. For instance,
Pragathi Guruprasad, a singer from Singapore who was declared as the first runner-up in the contest was considered to be the best classical singer by eminent judges. Yazhini, who was selected during wild card round by the public, was considered the best melody singer. Sukanya, who entered into the grand finale was declared as the most creative singer in the whole competition. Another junior singer Aajeedh Khalique, who won the 3rd edition of Airtel Super Singer Junior was considered as the most stylish singer.
Aajeedh was selected by public votes during the wild card round. Another Junior singer Gautham was considered to be the most soulful singer and he entered into the grand finale as per the choice of the eminent judges. Anu (contestant number 6), Jeynath ( contestant number 1), Rakshita ( contestant number 2), Akileswaran (contestant number 8) was considered to be the most expressive singer, most energetic singer, best western singer and best entertainer in the show respectively. Anjana was cited as the cutest singer while Sephy was voted as the best performer and Malavika was found the most progressive singer. The grand finale was held in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai and music maestro A.R. Rahman was the special judge of the day. The grand finale was held on 26th October 2012, and the competition started at 6.30 pm and came to an end at midnight 2 A.M . The finale saw five singers on stage. The competition was held between three junior singers ( Sukanya, Pragathi Guruprasad, and Goutham) selected by judges and two more singers (Aajeedh Khalique, Yazhini) selected by public votes(Wild Card Entry). Aajeedh Khalique was declared the winner, and the first runner-up was Pragathi Guruprasad and the second runner-up was by Yazhini. This show showcased the immense singing talent in children of Tamil Nadu.
