Airing on the platform of the Vasantham channel, Block 51 was a Tamil language entertainment show. Premiering in 2015, it consisted of a total of thirteen episodes, all falling within the genre of children and family documentaries. Dealing with a contemporary issue that would be moving and relatable for a large section of its audience, the show’s storyline focused on the lives of three families and, most importantly, on their children, all of whom lived in Block 51.
The show encircled what the kids had to go through, the problems and struggles they had to face daily, and the unique ways in which they dealt with the situations that arose before them, all in a light-hearted, entertaining manner. The problems were all of different kinds, all very realistic and day-to-day in nature, ranging from big ones to small ones, but the way the kids dealt with them was what made the show worth watching. It tried to portray the world from the point of view of these young souls, which provided an extremely unique angle to the show.Â
