“Super Singer” is a reality music show telecasted on Vijay TV, Tamil. It is a reality singing competition, with the caption - ‘Thamizhagathin Brahmaanda Kuralukkana Thedal,’ which means, the hunt for Tamil Nadu’s greatest voice. The series was sponsored by Airtel network. The show premiered during the year 2006. The contestants for the show are selected through conducting auditions in various regions, who compete with each other in the show. The successful singers in the show are offered chances to sing in the movies and finalists are given prizes. The show was telecasted for five seasons.

The finalists appeared on the show are now very successful singers. The first season started on 28th April, 2006. After conducting auditions in various cities like Chennai and Coimbatore, the contestants are selected for the show by renowned singers and musicians like S. P. Sailaja, Vasudevan, Sirkazhi Sivachidambaram, Mahathi, D. Imman, and Jency. Singer Chinmayi hosted the show. The judges’ panel was occupied by Srinivas, Unnikrishnan, and Anuradha Sriram. The contestants with the least performance report are eliminated at the end of each round. Ananth Vaidyanathan gives special training to the finalists.

The winner of season one is Nikhil Mathew and the first runner up is Anitha V. The second season started during the year 2008. Chinmayi continued as the host of the show until January 2009. Later, she got replaced by Yugendran and his wife Malini. Yugendran is a singer and an actor. Unnikrishnan and Srinivas continued as permanent judges in season two as well. Anuradha Sriram was replaced by Sujatha. The winner of the second season was Ajeesh. He got introduced by the music director Yuvan Shankar Raja through the song ‘Idhu varai.’ Sai Charan won the title in the third season.

He was selected for singing in the movies - Godfather, Manam Kothi Paravai, Saattai by the renowned music directors, A. R. Rahman and D. Imman. In the fourth season, Diwakar won the title. He then worked with the music directors D. Imman, Kannan, and Vivek. He did sing for the films like Kalkandu, Vadacurry. In the fifth season, Priyanka Deshpande, Bhavna Balakrishnan, Makapa Anand hosted the show. The auditions were judged by the winners and contestants of previous seasons. Unnikrishnan, Srinivas, and Sujatha remained as the permanent judges. Anand Aravindakshan was declared as the winner and Fareedha was the first runner-up. Rajaganapathy was the second runner-up and he was chosen as the Judge’s choice.
