Muthu is a young man who works as a taxi driver. He drives a taxi all day and comes home drunk at night. He also likes to fight and create a ruckus when he is drunk. His mother, Vijaya is disappointed in him. Vijaya has two other sons- Manoj and Ravi. Ravi works as a chef, and Manoj works in a prestigious corporate job.

Vijaya likes Manoj the most. Manoj is a selfish and money-minded person. He has a girlfriend, Jeeva, whom he plans to marry. Meena is a young and beautiful woman. She runs a small flower shop outside a temple as her only source of income. A loan shark, Sudhakar, has lustful eyes on her. Sudhakar tries to take advantage of Meena’s poor financial status to trouble her. Once, he even tried to kidnap her, but luckily a guy saved her. Muthu and Meena have met several times and constantly fight with each other. They dislike each other. Meena’s younger brother, Sathya, is friends with the local goons. One day he steals a bike as his family was not buying one for him. It was Muthu’s bike and he lodged a complaint and the police caught him. Meena pleaded with Muthu to take back the police case. That night, Sathya fought with his family, and his father evicted him from home.

Enraged and filled with emotions, he commits suicide by letting a train hit him on the tracks. Mutthu’s father, Annamalai, was a loco pilot, and it was his last day of work. It was he who was driving the train. He felt guilty for Sathya’s death and visited his family. He meets Meena and decides to make her a daughter-in-law. He plans to marry her to Manoj. Manoj plans to run away with his girlfriend, Jeeva before the marriage takes place. On the day of marriage, Manoj is gone leaving a letter that says he has run away with her lover. In reality, Jeeva has duped him of all his savings and fled to Canada with her friend. Out of embarrassment, Manoj does not turn up. Meena’s mother is embarrassed and fights with Annamalai.

Meanwhile, Sudhakar arrives and forces Meena to marry him. It is revealed that Sudhakar is Annamalai’s son. Meena also realizes that it was Mutthu who had helped her when she was getting kidnapped. Annamalai pleads with Muthu and Meena to marry each other to save their families from embarrassment. Both reluctantly marry each other. Their marriage holds a lot of challenges. Muthu does not believe in love due to past incidents. Meena is self-righteous and does not like Muthu’s lifestyle. They both have to overcome their past and differences to have a happy life.
