Tamil language popular soap ‘Perazhagi’ is a family melodrama which aired on Colors Tamil by 20th February 2018 from Monday to Friday at 9:30 PM onwards. The show is produce by K. Saravanan. The story revolves around a young girl Pothum Ponnu who faces the sarcasm in society due to her dark skin complexion. The show starred Child Actress Gayathri Raj as Pothum Ponnu aka Kayal for only 11 episodes. Meanwhile, Actress Deepthi Sri portrayed Pothum Ponnu young character. Pothum Ponnu highly dreams of becoming a big celebrity in Kollywood, but her dark skin complexion turns spoilsport in her aim. On the other hand, Actor Viraat played the character of Prithvi, who is a famous actor. Prithvi and Pothum Ponnu’s life gets connected when Prithvi eventually falls in love with Kayal. The whole story of ‘Perazhagi’ revolves around these two main leads. The story witnesses the dark reality of society who dislikes Kayal due to her dark skin color and her short height.

These ugly taunts of society bring Pothum’s confidence and her self-esteem down that she starts hating herself. But with the passing time, Pothum Ponnu overcomes this trauma of society, as she gets matured. Who supports Pothum Ponnu against all the flaws is her Mother Parvathy, who always stands as a support system to her. Parvathy helps Pothum a lot in forgetting society’s negative comments while she tries to make her live positive life. Soon overcoming this terrible time, Pothum migrates to Chennai with new hope to start a new life. But it doesn’t goes easy for Pothum to manage her life in Chennai. Pothum strives hard to get a job, but again and again, she faces failure. But amid her hard work and great passion to become an actress, she finally gets a lead role in a blockbuster movie ‘Kaviya Thalaivi’ which eventually changes her entire life.
