Jai Mahalakshmi is a spiritual serial that was aired on the Doordarshan channel. The serial depicts the chronicles of goddess Mahalakshmi. Initially, the serial portrays her birth that she was born to Bhrigu Maharishi during the swirling of the oceans. Later, she gets married to Lord Vishnu and resides with him in Vaikuntha with her eighteen sons. The story prevails as Sage Durvasa offers flowers to Lord Indra, and he places the garland on his elephant, and the elephant throws it to the earth. The Sage becomes furious about disrespecting his gifts and curses over the kingdom of Indra.
After the curse, the kingdom becomes to fall as leading to poverty, people lose over their humanity, replacement of god over pleasure takes place, and the gods also started to lose their powers. The demons also invaded the kingdom and started to defeat the gods. The Lord Indra then pleads to Lord Vishnu to save his kingdom from downfall, and he suggested the churning of the ocean, and this is how goddess Lakshmi was reborn, and she is symbolized as the goddess of luck.
She would also defeat other gods if they turn arrogant, and her anger will lead to loss of wisdom, wealth, fortune, poverty. Each episode portrays her defeating the enemies along with Lord Vishnu. The viewers adored this show as it signifies the spiritual importance of goddess Maha Lakshmi.
