Amavasai IAS is a telefilm written, enacted and directed by Mouli. Amavasai IAS describes about a meeting illiterate villager and an educated man from the city. Though he is not educated, the villager with his native wisdom opens the eyes of the educated man who comes across as arrogant when they first meet. How the educated man changes in his nature after the meeting with the villager forms the crux of the story. The cast includes Mouli playing the educated man from the city. Starting his career as a playwright , Mouli became famous for his play “Flight No.172” which he acted and directed it. Apart from venturing into directing Tamil films, he has also made films in Telugu. His first Telugu film, Patnam Vachina Pativrathalu, starring Chiranjeevi and Radhika became a huge hit running for 280 days. He then went to make another 20 films in Telugu. He has received the prestigious Kalaimamani award for Best Writer in the year 1985. He has also Nandi award five times for excelling in the Telugu Film Industry.
