Kahe Diya Pardes is a bilingual serial airing on zee Marathi with the languages Hindi and Marathi. The story is about two families and lovers who belong to different states and has a cultural difference. How Shiv and Gauri both try to omit the difference between their cultures is the story's plot. Shiv is a North Indian guy who lives in Varanasi but comes to Mumbai after his promotion. Gauri is a Maharashtrian girl who lives next door to shiv. They become friends. Shiv falls in love with Gauri. But he didn’t tell anyone. Gauri’s father Madhusudan Sawant is a pure Marathi man who loves his culture and his language.

Due to a kind gesture, Madhusudhan befriends shiv. Sometime, later Gauri also falls in love with Shiv. They try to hide their feelings and relationship due to cultural differences. Shiv’s father and mother come to meet him. Mataprasad Shukla, Shiv's father, gets to know about the relationship and accepts it. But Shiv‘s mother, Narmada Mataprasad Shukla, hates Gauri.

After battling against all the hardships, both marry and goes to Varanasi to seek the blessings of Shiv’s grandmother. She accepts Gauri. Narmada tries to create a rift in the life of Gauri. Gauri becomes hurt and goes to Mumbai. When Shiv comes to take her, it is revealed that she is pregnant with a twin child. She decides to give one child to her sister-in-law as she couldn’t conceive. After that, Narmada had a change of heart, she accepted Gauri.
