Malayalam Tv Show Thara Raja Thara Rani

Thara Raja Thara Rani is a reality show in the Malayalam language that airs on the channel, Jeevan TV which is news and entertainment based channel in the Malayalam language. The show, Thara Raja Thara Rani has had two seasons so far. Both seasons of the show were launched in the same year. The first season of the show was launched on 16th January 2016 and the second season, or as it is called the ‘2nd Stage’ was launched on 23rd April 2016. The show was usually aired on weekends, on Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 p.m. Each episode of the show ran for almost an hour. Thara Raja Thara Rani is a reality show but with a very different and interesting concept. The show is based on finding the best of the best actors and actresses in the Malayalam film industry.

The concept of the show is such that the audience has to vote for their favorite actor and actress of the Malayalam cinema out of a huge list of veteran actors and actresses in the industry. Now it sounds like an award show, but it is nowhere close to being an award show. In this show, veteran Malayalam actors and actresses like Mammoothi, Mohanlal, Sheela, etc., are put in front of the audience as challengers. There is a panel of special guests that include veteran cinema personalities like directors, co-actors, etc. There is also a studio audience in the show who take part in random impromptu quizzes related to these celebrities. The show starts with introducing these challenges individually. Now though the actors are not present physically on the show, their career is shown through presentations on the screen. It includes their biography, filmography, some of their best works, film nominations and awards, their achievement, etc.

This is done to give the viewers a clear idea of their work in all length and depth. The special guests, who have worked closely with these actors, talk about them and their nature as a person and professionally as well. In the middle of this, two hosts of the show ask questions on these celebrities. Once in a while, one of the members of the audience, who have answered most questions correctly, gets a chance to sit with the specials guests. Now at the end of each episode, the result of the episode as to who is the best amongst the three challenges of the day is declared. This answer comes from a poll conducted by the show throughout the state of Kerala. The show is also the first ever show in the Indian television history to conduct a Gallup poll to derive the results of the show.

It is the first time a television show has conducted a Gallup poll on such a large scale. The show takes a van from cities to villages, to every big and small gathering in the state like schools, malls, colleges, offices, etc where they distribute the voting sheet amongst the audience. The audience votes for their favorite actor and actress and drops the paper in a ballot box like the ones used in older version of government elections. These votes are tallied and the winner of each episode is announced. The show was mainly sponsored by Chungath Jewellery. In every episode, three different actors’ or actresses’ careers are pitted as challengers. At the end of the show, one actor and one actress get the title of Thara Raja Thara Rani.
