Melam Marakkatha Swadh is a cookery competition show that aired on the Flowers TV. Â The show started in December 2017. It was a weekly show aired once a week at 7 pm. In the show, each week, participants had to cook some traditional dishes that are famous in the Kerala region. They had to do all the work by themselves and present it most elegantly. After that, judges of the show tasted it and then tell them how they did. They gave each contestant some marks based on their cooking skills and the way they presented it. After that, some contestants were eliminated according to the marks scored by them. In each episode, some guest chefs were also there to give them some tips on cooking and other things. In one of the episodes, they had a competition on cooking Payaru Payasam. In this episode, they had to make the dish in a unique manner. They had to present it well. In the episode cooking expert, Naushad was there to give them tips on how they can make their dish different and unique.
After many rounds of several competitions, six contestants were chosen to compete against each other in the Grand finale. The Grand finale of the show was 2 hours long. The show took place in Kochi. Manoj K. Jayan was there in the finale to distribute prizes to the winners of the show. In the show, many celebrities came to perform and it was done on a stage with live audiences. The show was won by Sajna Sulaiman, who is from Malappuram. She won Rs 10 lakh cash prize as a winning amount. The show chose Priyakumari, who was from Ernakulam, as its first runner up and she won 5 Lakh rupees as the cash prize. Third place of the show was captured by Sabura Rahman, who was from Kasargod, who won the cash prize of Rs 3 Lakh.
