Little Scholar Season 5 is a quiz based show for kids in the Malayalam language that airs on the channel, Media One. Media One is a new Malayalam channel operated by the Madhyamam Broadcasting Network. The show, Little Scholar Season 5 was launched in the year 2016. The show is telecasted on Sundays, at 5:30 p.m. The runtime of each episode is one hour. Little Scholar Season 5 is a knowledge based educative show for school students. The show is a quiz contest for young kids. According to the format of the show, each episode has four teams of two school students. These students are randomly selected, and they get the chance to choose their partners. The teams are named on different themes every season.

In Season 5, the names of the teams were based on different cities in the state of Kerala. Some of the team names were Kozhikode, Idukki, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, Wayanad, Kasargod, Mallakpuram, Kannur, Alappuzha, etc. These names are not fixed for every episode. So every team that comes to the season has a specific name. The four teams contest each other through a series of question-based rounds. These rounds are related to an array of different topics and subjects like history, geography, literature, science, numbers, sports, current affairs, etc.

The rounds are also very interesting and varied like buzzer rounds, audio-visual rounds, multiple choice questions, etc. There are mainly two rounds in an episode. Each team gets an equal number of questions and chances to answer. Now some of these questions are really simple, but some of them are very tricky and tough questions. The team with the maximum correct answers scores the highest points and wins the episode. The winning teams from each episode again go head to head in further episodes like the semi-finals, etc. In the finale, the best teams fight for the winning position and the title of ‘Little Scholar.' Since it is a kids’ show, the set up of the show has been kept very colorful and funky. Bright colors and symmetrical geometric shapes are used in the background decorations.
