Thenali Raman is a Hindi Tv show, translated into Tamil on Zee Tamil. The show has been based on the Indian Historical Comedy Drama based on the legendary Telugu poet Thenali Raman, one of the eight honorable poets at the court of Vijayanagara, Emperor Krishnadevaraya. Thenali Raman uses his wit and intelligence to solve tricky situations and problems that lead to his widespread popularity around the kingdom and across generations. The show revolves around the 20years old boy Thenali Raman, who dreams of being rich and famous but is also lazy to work towards his dreams.Tenali is forced for marriage and is pushed to earn a living, a respected saint asks him to go to the temple of the village and recite a specific mantra.
Tenali does as he is told and Goddess Kali appears in front of Rama with a bowl of milk and bowl of curd asking him to pick one but Tenali ends up tasting both leaving Kali furious. Later, Tenali explains what is the use of one without the other. Goddess Kali gets impressed by his intelligence and says he will become a Vaikatavi, a sally poet in Krishnadevaraya's court. Tenali uses his timely wit and intelligence to solve even the trickiest problems in the court. His rival Acharya Tathacharya who wants to humiliate Thenali Raman in court, often gets stumped by Thenali's intelligence. Thenali Raman is close to King Krishnadeva Raya.
