Malayalam Tv Serial Hridayam Snehasandram

Hridyayam Snehasandram, created by Joyce, is a family drama serial in the Malayalam language airing on the Mazhavil Manorama channel. It explores the intertwined fate of relationships and moral dilemmas in the unique light of the contemporary situations affected by the pandemic. Hence, in this serial, Covid-19 plays the role of the lead villain. The main story takes off with the news of the imminent arrival of an expatriate back from the gulf to his home when corona scare dominated the mainstream discourse during the disease’s early debut. There were many misconceptions and scaremongering doing the rounds in society especially surrounding international travel.

The protagonist Mr. Pratap who has toiled for many years braving the harsh realities of the middle-east is now forced to return to his home as he has lost his job, and has no way to sustain himself there. Hence, he intimates his extended family about his intentions and they are visibly perturbed. His daughters-in-law in particular are especially displeased about his arrival and try to persuade his sons to coax Pratap into staying back, as they fear the virus infection. Never the less much to their dismay, he does not yield and makes his journey back home. As he arrives, the entire neighborhood organizes and prevents him from entering his courtyard. They ask him to quarantine at the government health care facility rather than at his home so that there is less chance of the infection spreading. But the health officials try to assuage the tense situation by stating that he had been tested for Covid twice and had been found negative and that there is no cause for any concern which seems to appease the local people.

However, the real drama is only about to begin because Pratap does not come alone. His family members soon discover that the young girl who came with him is his illicit daughter. Enraged the family members refuse entry. The situation is saved by Pratap’s friend and confidante, Mr. Pillechan, who offers them quarantine accommodation at his outhouse close to his home. Thus, Pratap along with his daughter and friend, then drive towards there.  

Once they arrive, the friend shows them the rooms, and they settle for the day. The next day Pratap narrates to Mr. Pillechan and his wife the events leading towards the birth of his daughter Sandra. He reasons that after his wife’s death, he felt alone and that was when he met Nimisha, Sandra’s mother, who eventually became a partner for him. Meanwhile, a storm is brewing in the background, triggered by his revelation that Sandra is indeed his daughter, as his fuming family members try every trick in their book to find details about this illicit daughter of his.

Though not yet fully willing to accept Sandra, Mr. Pratap is considerate and low-key loves her. As Mr. Pratap stands by his statements, the rest of the family, restless as they seem, contemplates their next move. After a fair share of melodrama, the family buckles at the possibility that they will lose their right to Mr. Pratap’s property if they continue to ostracize him.
