Asianet film awards 2015 is the 17th edition of the scintillating Asianet film award show held on 11th January 2015, at the Port Trust Stadium, Willingdon Island, Kochi.The show is an award ceremony organized to honor the Mollywood’s sublime artistic and technical performances. The first show held in 1998 and since then it is held annually in various cities across Kerala and sometimes at the international location too. Furthermore, it has gained popularity over the years and currently among the most watched award function across the state. Asianet, a Malayalam- language based general entertainment channel from the southern state of Kerala organizes the award ceremony with Ujala being the title sponsor of the function. The much anticipated Malayalam award show saw the presence of eminent personalities from both Malayalam & Tamil film industries.

The event had around more than 30 categories of awards presented to the winners. Superstar Mammootty bagged the Best Actor award for the second consecutive year in a row for his superlative performance in the movie Varsham whereas in female lead Manju Warrier named as the Best Actress for her exquisite role in the movie How Old Are You. In director category, Anjali Menon was handed out the Best Director award for her movie Bangalore Days and the coveted award for the Best Movie went to Iyobinte Pusthakam.

Some segregated awards were also seen being showered upon the film stars at the event like Mohan Lal was honored for the completion of 35 years of excellence in the industry while his son Dulquer Salmaan named as the Star of the year. Kunchacko Boban was awarded the Youth Icon of the year award while Jayaram Subramaniam was felicitated with Asianet Golden Award and Nikki Galrani bestowed with the Best New Face Award. The other category honors at the event also included awards like best playback singer, best supporting actor, best music director, best lyricist, best sound recordist, best editing awards, best script writer and much more. The show had some vibrant performances that left audience spellbound, from leading Mollywood stars and celebrities from various South Indian film industries.
