Asianet film awards 2012 is the 14th edition of the Asianet film award show held on 6th January 2012 at Festival City, Dubai. The show is an award ceremony organized to commemorate the Malayalam film industry’s sublime artistic and technical performances. The first show held in 1998 and since then it is held annually in various cities across Kerala and sometimes at the international location too. Furthermore, it has gained popularity over the years and currently one of the most watched award function across the state.

Asianet, a Malayalam-language based general entertainment channel from the southern state of Kerala hosted the award ceremony with Ujala being the title sponsor of the ceremony. Madhavan while Mollywood superstars Mammootty and Mohan Lal vouchsafed him for his formidable contribution to the Indian cinema. At the ceremony, Prayanam prevailed over other nominated movies to win the best movie award, and its lead actor Mohan Lal won the Best Actor Award for his outstanding role in the film.

In another kind of special award, Dhanush awarded as the Popular Tamil Actor while Madhavan and Vidya Balan were handed out the Asianet Golden Award simultaneously. The other artistic award categories included the best playback singer, best supporting actor, best music director, best lyricist and much more while in the technical category awards like best sound recordist, best editing awards were handed over to the winners. The show marked by some vibrant performances by the cine stars, singers and comedian that enthralled audiences who gathered to witness the mega event.
