The Asianet Film Awards also known as AF Awards has reached its fifth edition successfully to honor the great works in the field of cinema. This time, the show received a grand welcome as there were numerous title sponsors and associate sponsors. The Best film of this year has been chosen as Nandanam, which has been produced Ranjith. Director Jeyaraj has been selected as this Year's Best Director for his release Kannaki. Dileep was conferred with this Year's Best Male Actor Award for his excellent acting in the film Kunjikoonan. Samyuktha Varma was denied the hat trick Title for 'The Best Actor of the Year- Female' by Kavya Madhavan. Kavya outclassed Samyuktha in her blockbuster film Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan.

The Best Supporting Actor- Male has been unanimously spotted as Jagathy Sreekumar for his cast in the head Meesha Madhavan. Bhavana has been granted the title 'The Best Supporting Actor- Female' for her supporting role in the cast Nammal. There were no nominations for the Best Child Artist, Best Editor of the Year category. The Best Script Writer of the Year Award went to T. K. Rajiv Kumar for his mind-blowing film Sesham. The Prize for the Best Cinematographer of the Year went to K. Rajagopalan for the issue on Nammal. Kaithapram Vishwanathan Nambudiri grabbed the Gift for the Best Music Director of the Year for his composition Kannaki.

The Best Lyricist has been selected as O. N. V. Kurup for the magical words in the cinema Ente Hridayatinte Udama. Vidhu Prathap has been selected for this Year's Award for the Best Male Playback Singer because of his heart touching melody in the film Nammal. However, there was a heavy fight for the journal 'The Best Playback Singer of the Year-Female'. The debut singer Jyotsna has swept the Award for her melancholic tone in the film Nammal. The Best Makeup Artist Award went to Pattanam Rasheed for his beautifying work in the work Kunhikoonan.

The Best New Face of the Year Award in the Female Category went to Jyothirmayi for the movie Meesa Madhavan. Dileep and Kavya Madhavan bagged the second award on the night as they have been selected as this Year's Best Pair for the film Meesa Madhavan. Actress Madhu has been given away with the Lifetime Achievement Award in this edition. This season was another grand success as this would set the base for the next year too.
