Stranger is a South Korean TV series that aired on the channel tvN every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm. The first season aired from 10 June 2017 to 30 July 2017 for 16 episodes and the second season aired from 15 August 2020 to 13 September 2020 for ten episodes. It was created by Studio Dragon and written by Lee Soo-yeon. It was directed by Ahn Gil-ho, Yoo Je-won, and Park Hyun-suk. Hwang Si-mok is a prosecutor at Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office.

He has a medical condition due to which is sensitive to certain frequencies of sound, lacks empathy and social skills. While working os a case, his person of interest ends up dead. Along with Police Lieutenant Han Yeo-jin, he arrests a prime suspect. He pleads the case in court, saying that the prime suspect has committed robbery but not the murder. But Si-mok’s colleague, Young Eun-soo, convicts the arrested person for murder, despite the strong evidence proving otherwise. The convict commits suicide, and Eun-soo has to take the fall. Si-mok and Yeo-jin suspect that the convict was framed. Due to certain reasons, Si-mok suspects his fellow prosecutor Set Dong-jae for having something to do with the case.

He finds out that Dong-jae has been having an affair with an under-age escort Kim Ga-young, whom he finds beaten up in the original crime scene. The police, along with Yeo-jin start suspecting Si-mok for her condition. Later, the original victim’s son arrives and tells that he had a relationship with Ga-young. Since he is the only person connected to both the victims, the police arrest him. The actual abductor of Ga-young is Eun-soo. The chief prosecutor, Lee Chang-jae, doesn’t like Si-mok meddling with things. He gives him a separate task force with his people inside to spy on Si-mok. The task force is led by Si-mok and Yeo-jin. Si-mok finds his apartment invaded, and things are broken. Yeo-jin tries to find the invader. Eun-soo is found dead and Yeo-jin suspects that another killer is involved. At the end of the series, Si-mok finds a bag with evidence pointing towards the killer of the original victim. It was Lee Chang-joon.
