Itaewon class is a Korean drama series that aired on the channel JTBC every Friday and Saturday at 11 pm. It ran from 31 January 2020 to 21 March 2020. The series is based on a webcomic of the same name created by Gwang Jin. It was directed by Kim Sung-yoon and produced by Kim Do-soo for Showbox. This is the first drama series to be produced by this movie company. It is also premiered on Netflix. The lead cast is Park Seo-joon as Park Sae-ro-yi, Kim Da- mi as Jo Yi-seo, Yoo Jae-myung as Jang Dae-hee, and Kwon Nara as Oh Soo-ah.

Sae-ro-yi is a high school student who cannot tolerate bullying. Jangga food group’s CEO is Jang Dae-hee. When his son Jang Geun-won bullies a boy names Ho-jin, Sae-ro-yi steps up and fights Geun-won and gets expelled. Sae-ro-yi’s father Sung-yeol works for the Jangga group and gets fired because of his son. Later, Geun-won causes an accident, and Sung-yeol becomes a casualty. Sae-ro-yi becomes furious and fights with Geun- won, but ends up sentenced in jail for three years. Soo-ah is Sae-ro-yi’s crush in school. During his jail time, Dae-hee offers Soo-ah an attractive job package and she takes in.

In jail, Sae-ro-yi comes up with a plan to follow his father’s footsteps and establish a bar-restaurant after he gets out and to get his revenge on the Jang family by developing his business as the best in the country. In jail, he meets a girl names Yi-sea, who, after getting out of the jail, joins Sae-ro- yi in his mission. Seven years after getting out of jail, Sae- ro-yi manages to open a bar-restaurant by the name DanBam. They both served time along with Choi Seung-kwon in the jail, who also joined the DanBam group. Jang Geun-soo, the illegitimate son of Dae-hee, joins DanBam, as he felt left out in his own family. By the end of the series, Sae-ro-yi becomes successful and gets his revenge on the Jang family.
