Kannada Tv Show Vikasana

Vikasana was an educational show that aired on the Doordarshan Chandana Channel of the Doordarshan Network in 2016. The show was primarily aired in the Kannada language. Vikasana was telecasted twice a day – once in the morning and late night, at 8 am and 10:30 pm respectively. The show lasted sixty minutes and was aimed at students studying pre-university or taking entrance exams. The show was a novel idea by the State Government of Karnataka and its educational department.

The show was created with the help of numerous teachers and professors. Rather than being a simple educational show, Vikasana was created keeping solely in mind the students taking the entrance tests. Students studying in Karnataka after finishing high school need to take an aptitude test to further pursue an education at graduate level in universities. The test is commonly called ‘Common Entrance Test’ and is one of the most crucial tests a student takes.

Approximately 1.78 lakh students take the test, and as a result, the competition is quite tough, and students need to work hard to earn marks. Looking at the immense pressure the students must go through, the show was created to ease their burden. It was created to serve as a study material and a guide for students who cannot afford expensive tutorials and books. The show aired from April 1 to April 30 twice a day and aired sixty episodes. Each episode consisted of a lecture by a prominent teacher or a professor.

The topic of the episode was pre-determined and consisted from Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Biology. The series had 15 topics from every subject. The topics covered were the most important for the entrance test. The episode was a typical lecture from the teacher wherein he explained the concepts of the topic to the students in a way that is easy to understand. The primary focus was to teach the concepts in such a way that students can ace the examination.

The episode also featured various problems and questions to let the student test their understanding of the topic. Keeping in mind the pattern of the test, the teachers also asked various multiple option style questions to familiarize the students with the exam. Along with this the show also put up material online to allow students free access anytime. Vikasana was a novel concept from the government for the up liftment of poor and seditious students. Although the series aired in 2016, the lectures are still relevant, and students can learn a lot from them.
