The story revolves around her life and the issues she must contend with on a regular basis. Like every other woman of her age, Shilpa too has dreams. She wants to grow and prosper in life and have a happy family. She hopes of achieving these dreams when her marriage got fixed. She looks forward to a happy life with her husband and one day perhaps with children and a family of their own. These dreams come crashing as she soon realizes that her husband is far from perfect. He is a habitual gambler and a drunkard to boot. She tries to change him but to no avail. He keeps falling back into his old habits. She got left in a heartbroken and desolate state. Their house is close to ruins, and her husband suffers from heavy debt. She keeps standing by his side from her sense of morality and duty.

Things are not improving even after she tries very hard for a long time. She finally gives up and is even ready to leave the place and her husband. It is at this moment that she gets a friend and savior in Jagannath Gowda. He stands by her through these difficult times. He gets attracted to her over a course of time but always maintained a friendly distance. He never did anything to bring shame upon a married woman.
