The shoot of the series took part mainly in Mirzapur and part of Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi. The story of the series wholly covers drugs, guns, and crimes. It portrays the crimes, rule, and reign of Mafia dons and crime prevailing in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. It airs on 16 Nov 2018 on Amazon Prime Video. Each episode of the series has various titles, and different people direct these separate stories. The first episode starts with the title ‘Jhandu,’ and Karan Anshuman, and Gurmeet Singh direct the episode. The story revolves around the introduction of Akhandanand Tripathi Aka Kaleen Bhaiya. He is the uncrowned king of Mirzapur doing drugs and arms business. Legally he owns a carpet manufacturing company. On the night, his son Munna kills the wedding groom. He has a very younger wife, Beena. The family of the dead groom consults a fearless and idealist lawyer, Ramakant Pandit. He has three sons Guddu, Bablu, and Dimpy. They study in the same college in which Munna is studying. Guddu has a crush on Sweety, Dimpy’s friend. But he is very afraid to ask her about it. SP Parshuram informs Kaleen about the returning of his old rival, Rati Shankar, to Mirzapur and also the mistake of his son. He then assists his son to solve all his problems. Munna visits Pandit’s house to threaten him into withdrawing the case. When Pandit refuses to do so, Munna intimidates him in the gunpoint. That creates a melee between him and the lawyer’s family in which the lawyer’s family beats him and his goons. Kaleen decides to solve the problem through his intervention, and he calls them sons of Pandit. They are much afraid.

 Gooda, the second episode starts, Kaleen admire hearing that the sons of the lawyers beat Munna even after knowing he is his son. He then decides to offer them a job, which leaves Munna and the brothers in shock. After a severe hesitation and discussion with each other, they agreed to work for Kaleen. It creates controversy between Munna and his father because Munna is angry with his father for not punishing them. Kaleen offers the brothers bikes and pistols. He also asks them to warn their father about the refusal from the case. Pandit also denies their comments and throws them out of the house. It came to know that Sweetie and her nerdy sister were SP’s daughters, and he is a corrupted police officer who gets offerings from Kaleen. Munna loves Sweetie, in which she refuses him badly despite the threats and warnings of his friend. Guddu and Bablu then reach the bride groom’s family and threatens to withdraw the case. Initially, they did not accept to withdraw, but when Guddu hangs the brother-in-law from the balcony, they agreed to withdraw. In the meantime, Rati Shankar hires a goon to kill Munna. Thus, he escapes from it and kills the man. Rati’s Son Sharad advises his father to take revenge on him when Kaleen is out of Mirzapur. The third episode is Wafadar, Gurmeet Singh is the director of the series. Rati Shankar targets Kaleen and his son, which renews a one generation old rivalry between them. Sharad denies joining his father’s business. J.P. Yadav, the political patron, asks election funds from Kaleen Bhaiya. So he meets Lala for the extra supply of opium, and on the way to the city, the assassins of Rati Shankar hijack them. When he catches two assassins and enquires, he came to know that Rati is targeting their family. Then he hands over his gun rings to Bablu and Guddu, asking them to expand it. Simultaneously Beena extends his affair with someone other than Kaleen. Virginity is the fourth episode, and Gurmeet Singh and Karan Anshuman produce the part. As the name of the title, this part protrudes with Guddu and Bablu kill for the first time. The principal asks Golu to stand in the upcoming college elections as Munna is very arrogant. After refusing Munna, Sweetie calls Guddu out for a date. Munna gets Guddu steroids for bodybuilding through the compounder who serves his loyalty. Munna expresses that he wishes to take over Mirzapur as soon when his father allows him. The compounder suggests killing his father to take over the rule of Mirzapur. Initially, he is angry with him, but later, he considers it. Karan Anshuman and Mihir Desai directed the fifth episode.

 Bhaukaal starts as Munna enters an opium deal without the consent of his father. Guddu and Bablu caught a wonderful plan to increase gun trade. But for this plan, both the police and the criminals had to support. Then they sell the drugs through the eunuchs. Guddu tells that he is a gangster to Sweetie. Pandit writes numerous letters to the chief minister regarding the matters in Mirzapur. So, all the crimes rapidly increase due to the increase in the smuggling of guns, which creates anxiety in the city about Tripathi. Thus, the state administration sends police officers to solve this problem. In the next episode, all the mafia dons meet up in the name of the Holi party in which the Political patron decides to Rati Shankar due to the insults of Tripathi and his son. Also, he expects a large amount as a fund from Rati.

The upcoming part is Barfi, and Gurmeet Singh and Mihir Desai produce the series. The seventh episode starts with the name of Lions of Mirzapur as Gurmeet Singh and Karan Anshuman, in which Guddu and Bablu mix with the public and private life. Gurmeet Singh directs the last episodes in the Tandav and Yogya. At the starting of the sixth episode, Guddu and Bablu face a crisis that Guddu shoots the Shukla, the enemy of Tripathi. He becomes to hear the news and thinks about how it would happen without consulting him. Meanwhile, Guddu marries Sweetie and takes part in the bodybuilding the next day. The compounder tries to kill Tripathi, but it failed which unfortunately leads Munna to kill him in front of him to hide the truth. He then frames Guddu is the cause for the attack, and Tripathi makes him lose in the competition. Guddu feels aggressive and got insulted in the stage.

Tripathi then handovers gun to Munna as he will rule as from now. The final episode Yogya in which Golu wins the election and Sweetie is pregnant. Guddu feels the side effects of the steroids. Munna searches for the brothers all over the city to kill them. The police officers capture the eunuchs to close the trade of them. Munna kills Sweetie and Bablu at the wedding and injures Golu and Guddu. Tripathi increases this fear among people by killing police cops. At the final ending scene, Munna takes his gun to fight back. Beena caught redhanded for her affairs, and she looks for a gun to escape from it. The first season ends without a strong conclusion and makes the audience eagerly waiting for the second season.
