Ticket to Bollywood is a Bollywood based reality show which aims to find India’s next big superstar. The show had aired on the channel NDTV Prime for their launch, and it got produced by NDTV as well. It got made into a dual channel with NDTV Profit where the latter stayed on the air during the market hours. Once that ended, the same channel spot became NDTV Prime between the 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM slot. The show ran for just over two months, starting on 17th March 2014 and ending on 6th June 2014. Mukesh Chhabra, a famous casting director, Mahima Chaudhary, one of the most sought after film actresses of her time, and JasbirJassi, the versatile singer, have all consented to be the judges of this contest.
However, JasbirJassi got replaced by Kunal Kohli after the top twenty contestants got shortlisted. Kunal Kohli is the Director of many acclaimed movies like Fanaa and Hum Tum. Manasi Scott, the multi-talented singer, actor and dancer, and Vikram Thapa, a renowned entertainment journalist, were the hosts of this grand spectacle. The response to the show was nothing short of phenomenal. Amidst thirty thousand applicants, the judges shortlisted the best thirty-one. Out of these, the top twenty got boosted into the final round for competing in front of the national audience. The objective is simple – find the duo which can act, and dance equally well and outperform the rest. Many celebrities came out to support and guide the contestants throughout the course of the show.
The mentors included names like Rajpal Yadav, Gauhar Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Ashley Lobo, and more. They stood by the contestants and helped them polish their skills. Rajesh Khera was their prime acting mentor. He conducted numerous workshops for the finalists and oversaw the performances. He brought an additional layer of rigor and hard work into the affair, all the while making sure that the contestants stay on their toes. The saga and struggles of the participants continued across two whole months. At the finale of the show, Arjun Fauzdar, who hails from Delhi, and Chandigarh’s favorite girl Ankita Sharma got crowned as the champions.
As a result of this, they both won a chance to star in NDTV’s premiere production alongside none other than King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan. In addition to the winning pair, the duo of Abhishek Gupta and Yamini Tyagi got to be the winners of the People’s Choice Award.
