The Dewarists is an Indian television series which was launched by the youth-based channel of India, MTV India. The show is focused on the aspect of original music and is filmed in the format of a reality television series in a documentary style. The direction of the series is done by the front man of the Indian band Scribe which is based in Mumbai,
Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy. The first five episodes also saw the British filmmakers Nick and Fred as the co-directors. The first song of the song was called Mind Without Fear, and it was recorded by
Vishal Dadlani in collaboration with Imogen Heap.
The song took its inspiration from one of the poems of Rabindranath Tagore called Where the Mind is Without Fear. The second song got shot and recorded at the Capitol Theatre, in the presence of SwanandKirkire, Shantanu Moitra, and the Pakistani Duo Haniya and Zed, in Mumbai. The song was named Kya Khayaal Hai. The Indian Ocean came together with Mohit Chauhan in Delhi and recorded the song Maaya. Indie music flowed as the legendary Indian rock bands Parikrama and Agnee partnered up with Shilpa Rao and came out with the song I Believe. The recording took place at the Shisha Café, in Pune.
The fifth episode marked the city of Jaisalmer, where
Monica Dogra and the Rajasthan Roots joined hands to record the song Changing the World.
Rabbi Shergill and Papon came together in Assam to shoot and record the song Khule Da Rabb. In Mysore, Swarathma along with Shubha Mudgal produced and recorded the song Duur Kinara. At Goa, Monica Dogra appeared once again, this time with MIDIval Punditz, along with the Sikh- Canadian rapper Humble the Poet, to shoot and record the song No I.D. Required.
The song Sacred Science got recorded in the land of Kerala, by
Karsh Kale, and Njeralathu Harigovindan. The last song of the season had to be special, and so
Raghu Dixit, the man who composed the anthem of the show, came together with Rewben Mashangva in Shillong, Meghalaya, and recorded the song Masti Ki Basti. The team together is known as the King of Naga Folk Blues. MTV India in an attempt to encourage the aspect of original compositions and music came out with the show. The show achieved to get a lot of appreciation and bring together the world of different music genres at one place, as well.
