Roshni is a show on women empowerment broadcast on the A1 TV channel. The name of this show means ‘Light’ in English. This show celebrates women- hood. It shows different stories that involve powerful women characters. Society thinks that girls are ‘tension’ not knowing that they are equal to ‘ten- sons’. This show finds such stories and shows it to the audience. One such story involves a sixteen-year-old girl, named Neetu, playing the role of a mother for her younger brother and sister as their mother and father have died. She has given up her studies and life just to make sure her siblings receive their education. She takes up odd jobs to support her younger brother and sister. The house where she was living with her parents, when they were alive, has long gone with the rain and that has forced Neetu and her sibling to live with their uncle who himself is poor. Her parents died due to some disease.

The next story is of the legendary Mother Teresa. Her life story is well known in today’s world but there are still facts and details about her life which are still unknown. The story tells the viewers about her greatness and her dedication to serving humanity. One story involves victims of child marriage. These victims managed to protect themselves from this ruthless institution of child marriage and organized associations which propagate against child marriage. The first girl’s name is Roshni. Her grandparents wanted to marry her in the eighth standard due to society’s pressure. She has no parents to support her. But she has already contacted an association which helped her escape her family pressure and do her higher studies. The second girl’s name is Preeti who was married young and when the time came for her to go to her in-law, she refused as she wanted to study further. She had five other sisters for whom she was an inspiration as she followed her dreams and chose freedom over everything. She also created an association for saving girls from child marriage and giving them their rights.

One of the most famous poetesses, Lata came to share her life story. She recites her poems regarding soldiers, nature, cricket, and farmers, all the things she is passionate about. She also shares the names of her books that she has written, one has already been launched, while the other one is going to be launched. She also has an album to her name where she sang six of her poems in the form of a song. These books and albums are also available in the Kannada language. The songs are also going to be used in a Kannada film. She is a social worker who believes in helping soldiers and the poor. Her husband and her children always supported her decisions. She thinks there should be a library in every school. Her interview, which also includes her views on politics, youth, and female foeticide, is worth listening to.

The next guest is Dr. Jyoti Joshi, a poetess from Jaipur. She had the most tragic past. Her brother died aged sixteen years from a brain tumor. After that, her husband died. She somehow picked herself once again, but the final blow came when her son of sixteen died in an accident. Along with this, she was detected cancer three years back and was undergoing chemotherapy. But she still has not given up. She came to this show to share her journey. She says that no problems are greater than self-belief. She fought these battles herself and emerged victoriously.
