India’s Got Talent is one of the most popular television reality shows in India. Such is the level of popularity of the series that it has run for about seven seasons till now. It is the Indian version of the immensely popular Got Talent franchise abroad. The format that it follows is also very similar. Also known by the abbreviation IGT, India’s Got Talent is found by Sakib Zakir Ahmed. It began on 27th June 2009. The format is the same as the one followed internationally. There is a round of auditions that the contestant has to appear for in front of the three judges and the studio audience.
Whether the competitor advances to the next level is also decided by them. However, the selection of the winner is in the hands of the people as it depends on voting. Season six of India’s Got Talent premiered on 18Th April 2015. It included about 21 episodes. Just like the previous season, even this one saw
Bharti Singh as one of the host but
VJ Andy of season five was replaced by
Nakuul Mehta and
Siddharth Shukla. Again, just like the previous one,
Karan Johar, Malaika Arora Khan, and
Kirron Kher were the judges.
The show does not only concentrate on certain aspects of a person’s talent. Unlike most others, it is not limited to the dancing and singing talent but rather opens up its boundaries and invites any kind of talent to come up. It may be a strength, a particular form of music or dance, playing an instrument, gymnastics, and many others aspects. This is one of the many reasons why there are so many people who come from far and wide to be a part of the show for it offers a huge platform and gives recognition to not just the person by the new form of talent as well.
Each season gives birth to something new and brings to the audience something that they have not seen before. Season six was won by
Manik Paul, an aerial dancer who comes from Barpeta, Assam. He is a self-taught gymnast. He won the trophy, prize money as well as a car. The other finalists included another entertainer,
Yogeshwari Mistry, hand-shadow artist
Prahlad Acharya, fusion singer-duo Parry G and
Harmanpreet Kaur, and two dance groups, Beat Breakers and XIX. The season finale that aired on 27Th June 2015 also saw the performances by
Faisal Khan, rapper rafter, and
Elli Avram. This season too like the other gave the viewers an experience to a lot of new talent.
