Comedy Circus 20-20 is the fourth season of the euphoric Comedy Circus series. The show aired on Sony Entertainment Television Channel, starting from 4thApril 2009 at 9:30 pm and stretched for around ten whole weeks. The show is back with its signature style- stand-up comedy, but this time, with little twist. Keeping in mind the mood of the IPL season, this new line up comes with a lot of gags, jokes and laughter and a lot more only based around cricket and IPL. The show follows the happenings of IPL season the same year and how the tournament goes.
Then they create content out of or related to it and reiterate the IPL season on the show in a funny manner. The format of the show is such that there are four so- called IPL teams of four different celebrities and each team has a celebrity-comedian Jodi as its players. So these contestants of ‘the comedy circus version' of the IPL teams, compete against each other. The contestants of the show are Nigar Khan and Raja Sagoo from Mallya’s team,
Vinod Kambli and Rajveer Kaur from SRK’s team,
Rakshanda Khan and Rehman from Zinta’s team and
Roshni Chopra and
Kuldeep Dubey from Shilpa Shetty’s team.
To add an extra kick to the format of the show, the show also ends and begins with the Comedy Circus version of “Extraa innings” where comedians
Rajiv Nigam and VIP put up short funny skits to kick-start the “match” of the day. At the end of every episode, taking into consideration the judges’ scores and studio audiences’ votes, one Jodi would be nominated as ‘Jodi of the match’. The show is hosted by yet again, the host of all seasons by far,
Shruti Seth and judged by
Shekhar Suman and a new addition to the camp,
Ajay Jadeja, keeping in mind the cricket-angle to the show this season.
Unfortunately Archana Puran Singh will not be on the panel this season. By the end of the show, Nigar Khan and Raja Sagoo emerge victorious by winning this 20-20 series. The show witnessed the presence of many popular celebrities like
Sharman Joshi and also cricketing stars like
Charu Sharma. The show also kicked off with an epic commentary by Shekhar Suman in his own veteran style in episode one.
