STAR Talk was a television talk show that used to be aired on Star Plus and later Star World. The show was aired at the turn of the millennium and was far ahead of its time. The show was hosted by noted political journalist Vir Sanghvi and was one of the first talk shows to be aired on Indian television. The serial was pushed to the channel Star World when Star Plus rebranded and became fully Hindi television station.
In every episode, a different actor or personality was invited and interviewed by Vir Sanghvi. The show hosted famous celebrities such as
Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan,
Aamir Khan, and even cricketer
Sourav Ganguly. The celebrities were asked questions on controversial topics and about their personal and business lives. There was also a bit of humor mixed into the show to reduce its monotony.
The serial became extremely famous after the host interviewed actress and activist
Shabana Azmi. In one of the most emotional interviews ever broadcast, Shabana Azmi speaks about her activism and how her Muslim identity was used as a tool against her by her detractors.
Host Vir Sanghvi was also praised for his ability to get the celebrities to open up to their viewers, which is not an easy task.
