Saath Nibhana Saathiya is a popular Hindi daily soap series, currently being aired on Star Plus. The older episodes of the series have recently started airing on Star Utsav too. The show is created by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms. It is written by Ved Raj, Gautam Hegde and Jyoti Tandon and edited by Santosh Singh. It is directed by Pawan Kumar and Rashmi Sharma is the creative director. The show tells the story of two cousin sisters who have been married into the same Gujrati household in Rajkot.

The central character is that of Gopi, played originally by Gia Manek and currently by Devoleena Bhattacharjee . She lives with her brother Dhawal Desai played by Ashish Sharma, her Mama, her Mami played by Vandana Vithlani and their daughter Rashi played by Rucha Hasabnis. As fate may have it Gopi and Rashi end up being married into Modi household brothers Ahem Modi played by Mohammad Nazim and Jigar Modi played by Vishal Soni. The Modi family is a typical Gujrathi joint-family filled with strict rules to live by the customs and traditions. The eldest member of the family is Baa aka Janko Modi played by Aparna Kanekar, her two sons - Chirag Modi played by Neeraj Bharadwaj with wife Hetal Modi played by Swati Shah who are Jigar’s parents and Rashi’s In-laws and Parag Modi played by Manish Aroraas with wife Kokila Modi played by Rupa Patel who are Ahem’s parents and Gopi’s In-law. Kokila Modi though the younger bahu’s of the Modi’s is more like the head who has set rules and regulations for every person in the house.

How the marriage effects the love-hate relationship of the sisters and how they adjust to the rules of Kokila forms the crux of the story.

The show has recently taken a leap into the current track with Gopi and Rashi’s kids coming into the picture. Rashi’s twins Tolu aka Sahir and Molu aka Samar, Dhwal’s son Prateek and Gopi’s daughters Meera played by Mazel Vyas and Vidya played by Palak

The show was first telecasted on 3rd May, 2010 and still continues to run successfully. The dubbed Tamil version is being telecasted on Star Vijay, malayalam version on Asianet and a Telugu version on Maa TV. There is also an Urdu version of the series being aired in Pakistan. The show is telecasted from Monday-Friday at 7pm.
