Rettai Roja is a Tamil serial broadcast on Zee Tamil channel. This is a story of enmity between a pair of twin sisters. The sisters are named Anuradha and Abhirami. They might be similar in their looks but there could not be more different personalities than these two. Anuradha is an attention-seeking person and dominant, who would go to any lengths to be noticed. Abhirami has a patient and introvert kind of personality. Anuradha despises her sister for grabbing the spotlight despite her desperate efforts to be the person, people notice and praise. Because these two sisters fight a lot and their mother gets them enrolled into a convent school, where they once again because of their fights get expelled.

Anuradha is a lawyer by profession. When Abhirami wants to borrow a vehicle from Anuradha to go and a fashion exhibition, Anuradha mocks her choice of career. Abhirami is a tailor by profession. Later on, Anuradha is appreciated for her superb performance at the court. Two brothers named Sanjeev and Santosh become the love interest of twin sisters. Sanjeev is the short-tempered one. Whenever he is in a situation where he is about to lose his temper Abhirami appears out of nowhere and tells him to stop doing whatever he is about to do in sheer anger. He tells Santosh about this girl. Anuradha loses a high profile case thanks to her face resembling Abhirami and her client mistaking her to be Abhirami, the tailor. She scolds Abhirami for having a similar face as her.

Even Santosh and Sanjeev become confused when it comes to distinguishing one sister from another and have mistaken in recognizing them. Sanjeev and Santosh’s mother noticed that her first son is becoming more and more patient and is changing while the second one is in love. She gives the credit to Abhirami for her son’s new behavior and knows that Santosh loves Anuradha. Anuradha agrees to marry Santosh after seeing that he is really rich. She also warns her parents that Sanjeev is an angry guy so Abhirami should stop going out with him.

Santosh’s mother wants dowry. Abhirami lies that he loves, Salman. Sanjeev, on hearing the rumor that Abhirami likes Salman, beats him blue and black. Now in order to pacify her parents, Abhirami agrees to marry Salman. Sanjeev realizes that Salman is a fraud and stops her from marrying him. But she refuses to listen and stops the wedding only when the police come and arrests him. Now a new character Sreeja comes in Sanjeev’s life and tries to woe him. She tries each and every trick to make Sanjeev realize how wrong Abhirami is for him by creating many misunderstandings. Would Sanjeev and Abhirami make their love story come true or would they keep on getting tossed here and there by destiny?
