The show started on 1^st September 2011 by a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Multi Screen Media. It is a Hindi music channel where the songs of all the genres play according to the demand of the viewers. The motive of introducing the channel was to change the game set up by the other competitors like MTV and Channel V.

The content played on these channels is dedicated to the thinking and the taste of the youth. On the other hand, Sony Mix attempts to reach to all the age groups. The early morning feature, plays melodies, followed by light-hearted songs in the afternoon, then the latest, energy-packed songs in the evening, and then the retro hits to end the day.

A significant amount of content played is dedicated to the age group of 24-44 years. Mix Solos doesn’t play the songs all the time, as that might get monotonous. It also gives the audience an insight into how the songs are composed and the anecdotes related to them. So the audience gets the motive behind the song and that gives the audiences a sense of the songs.

On the special feature, Sundays Mix Musicians does exactly like this, by spilling details on the music directors, singers, and lyricists. Then another dedicated segment for lyricists titles ‘Yun Bana’ features famous Lyricist Swanand Kirkire guides aspiring writers or song lyricists as he shares the thought process for writing songs.

Apart from this, the show consists of little facts after some time about the music. The channel has already broken the average songs played per month, which was 250 to 750. It is 50 songs more which is thrice the amount we used to get.

The channel continued with the short format shows and launched a couple of more as there is a lot of music in our industry which cannot go unnoticed. Furthermore, in the year 2013, the show launched a ‘TV Ka Pehla Radio Show’ hosted by RJ Anurag Pandey which airson Fever FM and on Television at the same time.
