Life OK is a well known and highly popular Hindi television channel which is owned and operated by Star India. The channel was started on 18 December 2011 and broadcasts shows belonging to the variety of genres including drama, comedy, horror, reality shows, crime related shows (Savdhan India being the most popular television crime show telecasted on the Indian television) and dance shows. Ek Nayi Umeed - Roshni is a daily soap with a new and unique concept of medical drama which was shot in a real hospital. The show broadcasted its first episode on Life OK on 13 July 2015. The program airs five days a week - Monday to Friday. The show is created by Pulse Media Pvt. Ltd. and written by Sanjay Tripathy.
The series of 90 episodes is directed by
Suhail Tatari and Shahab Ali Khan. And, produced by Kavee Kumar, Sanjay Tripathy, and Vineet Yadav. Each episode runs approximately for 22 minutes and the shooting of the series were in both Mumbai and London. Anukriti Pandey and Dipika Sikand are the creative directors of the show. The story of Ek Nayi Umeed – Roshni is based on the struggle of a cardiac surgeon, Roshni. Roshni is not only a phenomenal doctor, but she values the life of doctors over that of the hospital and stands-up for numerous issues. The show also focuses on the exciting life of physicians and also, money becomes more important for the doctors than their parent’s lives. Pooja Gor (Roshni) plays the role of an inspiring doctor who against all the odds brings hope to thousands of patients in the hospital. Latere, the makers of Ek Nayi Umeed – Roshni, made a change in the concept of the show to connect with the audiences by introducing the them to the world of patients instead of concentrating only on the doctors. Ek Nayi Umeed - Roshni began with a focus on the life and problems of a patient from a doctor's point of view, but now the patients and their issues will be the focus.
