Batliwala House No. 43 was a television series that was telecasted by Sony TV. This story would revolve around a Gujarati family. The genre adopted by this particular series was comic. This was popular among the people of India as the most hilarious show. This show was then renamed as ‘Kudkudiya House No. 43’. The writing part of this soap opera was carried out by 'Aatish Kapadia'.
This story particularly showed the fights between the father and son in the family. There were also other characters in the family like the grandmother and daughter-in-law. ‘Hats-off Productions’ was the company which involved in the production of this series. As the son wants to become big in the film industry, his family had set up a chat show during the night times. The son whose name is Shahrukh would become the main anchor of this chat show wherein his family would act as secondary anchors. This show had the pride being a blend of chat shows as well as sitcoms. Basically, this show was adapted from a series of the UK which is called ‘The Kumars at 42 ND’.
Popular actors like Bakhtiyaar Irani, Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal, Dimple Shah and Dilip Joshi were casted during the whole series. Other actors like Nimisha Vakharia, Siddharth Randeria and many more had made their appearances in the current show.

Set up as a non-fiction show within a fiction one, ‘Kudkudiya House No. 43’was among the first of its kind. The story revolved around a family of four who hailed from Rajkot, Gujarat and had shifted to Mumbai. The family consists of an old lady, her son and daughter-in-law and grandson. Dayaben, the grandmother is the one who takes stock of the latest happenings in the world of glamour and her grandson, Hitesh, hopes to make it big in the film industry someday. His father, Bhanushankar is however, apathetic towards his son’s dreams and his world revolves around his Farsan shop. Hitesh’s mother is the most innocent one of all the four, someone who is only concerned with the kitchen and other household chores. Dayaben inspires Hitesh to start up a chat show in their back yard which would both help her squeeze out latest gossips as well as get Hitesh closer to his dreams of becoming a star.
Nimisha Vakharia- A well-known actor of Indian film and television, Nimisha played the character of Charubala Bhayani in ‘Baa Bahoo Aur Baby’. She also acted in a number of other shows such as ‘Khichdi’, ‘Adaalat’, and ‘Teen Bahuraaniyan’ and is currently seen in ‘Sasural Simar Ka’. She played the character of Hitesh’s mother.
Dimple Shah- Playing the character of Dayaben in this show, Dimple had made a good display of her acting skills. She has also acted in a number of other television shows such as ‘Bhai Bhaiya Aur Brother’, ‘Resham Dankh’ and ‘Hum Sab Ek Hain’.
Dilip Joshi- Known for his comedy acting skills, Dilip has proven himself in more than a dozen films and television shows. He played the character of ‘Ramu’ in the iconic film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ in the year 1989 and has continued acting ever since without a break. He is currently seen playing the lead role in SAB TV’s ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. He plays the character of Hitesh in ‘Kudkudiya House No. 43’.
Siddharth Randeria- A theatre actor, he is known as the legend of Gujarati plays. He has also played important roles in films like ‘Khalnayak’ and ‘Shortkut’. He plays the role of Bhanushankar Kudkudiya in ‘Kudkudiya House No. 43’.
The producers, ‘Hats Off Production’ thought of the idea of the show to be such that there will be different families inhabiting the same house and probably doing the same things but just offering some change to the eyes of the viewers. This resulted in the change of actors. The basic premise of the show lay in the conflicts that arose in a family from a town when they started to settle down in a metropolitan city like Mumbai. The different discussions, chats, question and answer rounds all hinted at how, the Kudkudiya family felt a culture shock post shifting to Mumbai. The first guest of the show was Indian actor, Madhavan. There were guests from Indian television and films. The show ended after more than a year from its going on air.
