The eleventh edition of the Star Guild Awards, held on 01 January 2016, recognized and honored the excellent performances of 2015. The famous stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma hosted the star-studded event. He entertained the audience with witty and hilarious punch lines and remained connected with them through interactive segments. Salman Khan starrer film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, won five awards for Best Film, Best Story (presented to V Vijayendra Prasad), Best Screenplay (presented to Kabir Khan), Best Supporting Actor (won by Nawazuddin Siddiqui), and Best Child Artist (won by Harshali Malhotra).
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's featured film, Bajirao Mastani, won nine awards for Best Director (presented to Sanjay Leela Bhansali), Best Actor in Lead Role (won by Ranveer Singh), Best Dialogue (presented to Prakash R Kapadia), Best Cinematography, Best Actor in a Supporting Role-Female (Won by Tanvi Azmi), Best Choreography (Won by Remo D'Souza for Pinga), Best Art Direction, Best Sound Design, and Best Costume Design.
Deepika Padukone won the Best Actress in a Leading Role Award for a promising performance in the film Piku, and the smashing debut performance of Bhumi Pednekar in Dum Laga Ke Haisha earned her the Promising Debut-Female Award. The comedy king, Kapil Sharma, entered the film business with the Abbas-Mastan film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, which bagged him the Promising Debut-Male Award. Neeraj Ghaywan's heartfelt debut film Masaan earned him the Most Promising Debut Director award. The evergreen and talented actress Tabu won the Best Actor in Supporting Role-Female for her performance in Drishyam.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui received another award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for his performance in Badlapur. Deepak Dobriyal won Best Actor in a Comic Role award for Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Akshay Kumar won a special award for completing 25 years in Bollywood. Priyanka Chopra took home the Guild Global Honor for her American television debut in Quantico. The song, Moh Moh ke Dhaage, bagged two awards, Best Female Singer (given to Monali Thakur) and Best Lyrics (given to Varun Grover). Arijit Singh won the Best Male Singer award for Hamari Adhuri Kahani. Amaal Mallik, Ankit Tiwari, Meet Bros, and Anjjan won the Best Music Award for Roy.
