The series features the fictional town of Bon Temps, Lousiana exactly two years after Vampires came out of their coffin on national television.

It deals with Sookie Stackhouse(Anna Paquin), a waitress with telepathic abilities who encounters a strange new world when she meets the charming but vampire Bill Compton(Stephen Moyer). The vampires are now living with their human counterparts due to the invention of true blood which is a synthesised version of human blood. They can easily purchase it which assures the public that they are safe and no longer pose a threat to the human race. Sookie works in Merlottle’s bar whose owner is Sam Merlotte(Sam Tramell). He is a shape- shifter and has a crush on her. Sookie’s brother Jason Stackhouse(Ryan Kwanten) is a labourer on a crew and a Casanova during the night. His playboy lifestyle begins to fade away which later is the reason for suspicion of him being a serial killer. Lois Smith(Adele Stackhouse) is their grandmother who took care of them ever since their parents demise. Jason is in a relationship with Amy Burley(Lizzy Caplan) mainly due to their shared addiction to vampire blood.

The central mystery of the season begins with Maudette Pickens(Danielle Sapia) being killed. The only detective available Andy Bellefleur(Chris Bauer) is in charge of finding the killer. Andy suspects Jackson whose suspicion grows after another murder, this time of Dawn Green(Lynn Collins). Meanwhile, in the vampire community, Eric Northman(Alexander Skarsgard) is the sheriff of the area and is also the owner of a Vampire bar. One of the bartender named Longshadow(Raoul Trujillo) is killed by Bill after he tries to attack Sookie. Bill is guilty for killing a fellow vampire and is taken to the Magister(Zelko Ivanek). Due to some circumstances Eric leaves Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) with Bill.

There is also an international conflict going on in the background between humans and Vampires. An anti Vampire church named “Fellowhip of the Sun” is opened byReverend Steve Newlin(Micheal Mcmillian) and Sarah( Anna Camp Bio coming soon... >> Read More... . It is opened after the death of Steve’s father who was allegedly killed by Vampires. A representative of the church approaches Jason who is in jail for alleged murder. Despite the conflict between humans and Vampires, Sookie admires Bill and believes that both parties can be co- exist peacefully and also discover love.
