The Shield Season 5 debuted on 10th January 2006 on FX channel in the United States. It is consistently counted amongst one of the best shows on television. Popular right from its very start, the show continued to garner fans from all over the world. The fact that it was also critically acclaimed acted as an added bonus. Throughout its original run, the series received several nominations awards including Primetime Emmy and the Golden Globes. The show is about the fictional Strike Team, a group of detectives, based on the real-life Rampart Division, Of Los Angeles Police Department.

Each installment of the series focuses on a different matter concerning the detectives. This particular season consisted of 11 episodes in total. It centers around Internal Affairs Lieutenant Jon Kavanaugh and his team’s investigation and audit of the Strike Team which currently is under the command of Vic Mackey as they believe that he is responsible for the death of Terry Crowley.Mackey is indeed guilty, and viewers are faced with a question that for how long will he escape the long arms of justice. At every step of the way, the Strike Team is always ahead of Jon.

A side-character, Lem is one of the central figures in the season and the key to bringing down the enemy side for both – Strike Team and Internal Affairs Division. He is found out to be involved in supplying heroin and other drugs. After finding the drugs, Lem is incriminated but is soon bailed out by Vic Mackey. What follows is an epic chase of cat and mouse between the Strike Team and Internal Affairs, and it is left to the audiences’ interpretations to figure out who is the cat and the mouse. The finale of the season shows that with the help of Mackey,

Lem escapes to another country to lead a new life. And finally, we see Kavanaugh and Averceda deciding on helping each other out by joining forces against Vic Mackey. In seasons 5 and 6 of this crime drama television, Forest Whittaker (Jon Kavanaugh) stars in a guest role, i.e., she is not one of the recurring cast members. The show is now also up for a digital release as it is available on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
